Faculty Senior Scientist, Nuclear Science Division, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

Welcome to ANSG! We are a multidisciplinary group of engineers (nuclear, electrical, mechanical) and scientists (physicists and chemists) who perform fundamental research in several areas of nuclear science and engineering. Our two focus areas are:

  1. Ionizing Radiation Detection and Measurement. We advance state-of-the-art technologies to detect, measure, and generate ionizing radiation for nuclear science, security, power, and industrial applications.
  2. High-Power Laser Science, Technology, and Applications. We develop the technological and scientific foundation for using high-power, especially ultrafast lasers in nuclear sciences and engineering.

ANSG is a member of the following large research frameworks and collaborations:
Consortium for Nuclear Forensics (CNF) – DOE/NNSA
Interaction of Ionizing Radiation with Matter – University Research Alliance (IIRM-URA) – DOD/DTRA
Zetawatt-Equivalent Ultrashort pulse laser System (ZEUS) – NSF
Optical Parametric Amplifier Line (OPAL) – NSF
